Holistic Self Care: Looking after your mind, body and brain

  • Jones Knowles Ritchie 30 Oval Road London, England, NW1 7DE United Kingdom (map)

Summer was fast approaching and the dreaded ‘get beach body ready’ ads were starting to appear. But is there really such a thing as the perfect woman? What impact does our obsession with perfection have on our mental health?

This event once and for all debunked the myth that the perfect woman exists. Instead, we focused on mental and physical well-being and how to be your best self, not a perfect one. We heard from two experts, Dr Judith Moring, Consultant Psychiatrist and Wendy MacLennan, the founder of Train, Body, Brain. As ever it was a relaxed and informal evening, full of practical tips, good conversation and of course accompanied by wine and some extra-delicious nibbles.

We made On The Inside our charity partner for May, with £2.50 from every ticket sale going to support them. On The Inside is an amazing project - a series of animated films which aims to raise awareness of the condition endometriosis, in which a uterus-like tissue grows outside the uterus, causing lesions and scar tissue that attach to other organs. Endometriosis takes an average of 8-10 years to diagnose, but is incredibly painful and living with it can take its toll on a woman's home and professional life, as well as her mental health. Despite the severity of the condition, it is still little-understood. On The Inside aims to change this, and our donations will help fund the project.
